Death before 17 May 1784 Richmond, Georgia, “Georgia Citizens and Soldiers of the American Revolution,” Lewis' birth is estimated from 1777 militia pay roll herein. His age is also estimated from the estimated births of his sons. “Lewis McGee” file, in “Georgia Headright and Bounty Land Records 1783-1909,” The 17 May 1784 date is the date on which warrant for bounty land was issued to his heirs Elizabeth married John Smith before 7 November 1785 January 4 1800 – John Smith and Elizabeth (x) his wife to George Walker, for $1500, sold tract on which said Smith now resides, on both sides of Spirit Creek, in two surveys and grants, one in the name of Caleb Cox containing 287 ½ acres, the other in the name of said Smith containing 500 acres....and according to a resurvey totals 1276 acres; wits. Geo. Allen, Free. Walker, Val. Walker; 6 Jan 1800, Elizabeth (x) Smith relinquished claim to the within; Recorded 8 April 1800. Richmond County, Georgia Deed Bk G, 498-500. Records of Richmond County, Georgia,” October 1801. “As my living wife before she married me saw fit to secure all her property to her children, I leave her twenty five cents.” He also named three nephews living in Scotland.
