George Carr denied marriage ever occurred.
Ella (Eylla) Shemwell testified that she was working as a dressmaker in 1911 in Checotah, OK. While employed there she met Carr who proposed marriage in a short time. She left Checotah after being there only a few months going to a farmhouse near Council Hill, OK where she was employed for about a month as a dressmaker. While at the farmhouse Carr came four times to see her and that on his fourth visit she consented to marry him and did so the same day.
