Note
Florence Lee Shemwell b.January 13, 1888 Rice (her father) died August 11, 1885 cit. Administrator bond issued Sept 7 1885 - Tombstone inscription 8-11-1885. Husband -John Paul McMillan - b.June 10, 1889 In 1880 Census no Florence so... she was probably born between June 1880 (after census) and May 1886 (9mo after Rice's death) She is out of the house by June 1900 (not in parents census) could have married no younger than 16? so at least b.1884. If her stated birth date was correct she would have been < 12. So birth between 1884 & May 1886 Willie Welker - Florence Shemwell Marriage 01 Apr 1897 Stewart, Tennessee, United States, if this is Florence again she could not have been born in 1888. Everything right for Florence... place name etc., if 14 born in at least 1883 In 1900 Census Florence & William Welker next door to Adell Shemwell (Florence's mother & family) - 27yo -b.Jan 1873 scratched over 1883 1910 Will -32 & Florence Wilker - 26 1st marriage for 12 years 0 children b.1884 4 doors down from mother who is living with Ollie & Bulah Sykes (daughter) Paul Mcmillen - Florance Shomwell Marriage 15 Jan 1916 Stewart County, Tennessee 1920 Census- she's 34 b.1886 - 2 yrs older than John Paul 32 b.1888 1930 Census- she's 43 b.1887- 4 yrs older than John Paul 39 b.1891 she was married @ 29yo John Paul @ 25yo 1940 Census- she's 53 b.1887- 2 yrs younger than John Paul 55 b.1885 Death Cert.. b. Jan 12 1888 - 69 yo John Paul's obit says he was born in June 10, 1891 (not likely... 11 in 1900 census) Draft says b. 10 Jun 1888 So... Best guess.. she really was born Jan. 13 1883.
