In her will, witnessed by her daughter Jinnett Phillaw Cooper, Mary Pierce states that she has "deposited in the hands of Blunt Cooper of County and state aforesaid ~ Four Hundred and twenty dollars whic I woulod have put on interest until Whitmel Cooper my grandson arrives to the age of twenty one years. Then for the whole of the monel to be equally divided between my four grandchildren, that is to say, Whitmel, Sally (Sarah Alston), Bennet & Polly (Mary) Cooper." This seems to establish that as of 14 February 1809 Blount and Jinnett had these four children. I also conjecture that her will mentions them in the order of their ages. This same order Whitmel to Mary is followed in Blount's listing in his 1845 will. This Bennet is found by name no where else. Comparing census records I surmise that he died sometime between 1830 - 1840. His younger brother, Jesse C. Cooper and his wife named a child born in January 1854, "Bennet," perhaps in his deceased brother's memory. At the North C
