Donald T. Shemwell Thursday, January 19, 2012 Marshall Democrat-News Donald T. Shemwell, 87, of Independence, formerly of Saline County, died Wednesday, Jan. 18, 2012, at Centerpoint Medical Center in Independence. Graveside services will be held at 11 a.m. Saturday, Jan. 21, 2012, at Lamine Cemetery in Cooper County. Memorials may be made to St. Jude's Children's Hospital in care of Campbell-Lewis Funeral Home in Marshall. Friends may sign the online register book at www.campbell-lewis.com. Born Nov. 21,1924, in Arrow Rock, he was the son of the late Herbert A. Shemwell and Roxie Lee Turley Shemwell. On June 6, 1950, he married Bertha Lee Shaw who survives of the home. He was a graduate of Blackwater High School and a U.S. Army/Air Force veteran. He had lived in Independence since 1955, was a carpenter his entire life and was a member of the Carpenters Union. In addition to his wife, he is survived by one daughter, Donna Osiek of Independence; one son, Herb Shemwell of Overland Park, Kan.; three grandchildren; two step-grandchildren; one great-granddaughter; one sister, Ruth Newman of Preston; and several nieces and nephews. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by two sisters, Theodocia Lee Shemwell and Phyllis Stone; and one brother in infancy, Herbert Shemwell.
