He married Miss Sarah Frances McGehee 64 years ago, to this union 7 children were born, 4 have gone on and 3 are living, one daughter, Mrs Alta Brewer of Winnsboro, two sons, Homer of Winnsboro and Dink of Cooper, one brother, Bennett Chambers of Enloe, Texas 9 grandchildren and 20 great grandchildren and 2 great great grandchildren. Grand daddy joined the Methodist Church at the age of 21 and has lived all these many years God would have him live, but on Saturday, as dear old grandpa was trying to stay with us a while longer, Jesus came and said come home with me dear one, I will give you rest and he went so easy as I prayed he might if he had to go. But oh how we miss darling grandpa and our grandmother will miss you for you have been with her for 64 years but we will try not to be so sad for he is resting now. You have left us dear grand daddy and your face we'll see no more but we know that you will greet us on that happy golden shore. But oh, we miss you dear grand daddy, your sweet smile your loving eyes but we'll see you up in heaven where there will be no more good byes, His granddaughter." |
