Will | Transcribed Will: “In the name of God Amen. I, Michael Troutman, of Bullitt County and State of Kentucky, being sick and weak in body but of perfect mind and memory thanks be given to God. Calling unto mind the mortality of any body and knowing that it is appointed for all men to die do make and ordain this my last will and testament that is principally in first of all. I give and recommend my soul into the hands of the Almighty God, that gave it and my body to the Earth to be buried in Christian burial, at the discretion of my Executor, not doubting, but at the general Resurrection, I shall receive the same again by the Almighty Spirit of God, and as touching such worldly Estate herewith it has pleased God to bless me in this life.
I give demise and dispose to the same in the following manner and form.
First, I will and bequeath to my loving son John Troutman $1 this currency having given him his proportional parts before.
Secondly, I will and bequeath to the heirs of my daughter Caty Troutman, alias Ambrose, $1 this currency have given to her and heirs their proportional parts before.
Thirdly, I will and bequeath to my loving son Peter Troutman $1 of this currency having given him his share before.
Fourthly, I will and bequeath to my loving son Michael Troutman $500 this currency to be paid the said Michael of the proceeds of the plantation I now live on after the death of my present loving wife Elizabeth Troutman.
Fifthly, I will and bequeath unto my loving son Leonard Troutman $100 currency to be paid out of the proceeds of this plantation I now live on after the death of my present wife Elizabeth Troutman.
Sixthly, I will and bequeath to my loving daughter Elizabeth Carrico, alias Troutman, the plantation she now lives on to her and the heirs of her body and $100 currency to be paid to the said Elizabeth's heirs to be paid out of the proceeds of this plantation I now live on after the death of my present wife Elizabeth Troutman.
Seventhly, I will and bequeath to my loving son Abraham Troutman the plantation he now lives on and one Negro named Levo. To him as proportional parts, Abraham Troutman, is to pay for the notes for which I am security for to portency.
Eighthly, I will and bequeath to my loving son Isaac Troutman $1000 to be paid out of the proceeds of the plantation I now live on after the death of my present loving wife Elizabeth Troutman.
Ninthly, I will and bequeath to my loving son Jacob Troutman the plantation he now lives on and one Negro boy by the name of Tony after my death, together with $100 out of the proceeds of this plantation I now live on after the death of my present loving wife Elizabeth Troutman.
Tenthly, I will and bequeath to my loving daughter Rebecca Patterson, alias Rebecca Troutman, one tract of the plantation which I own in Graydon, having sold the other half to her husband John Patterson and no more having given her, her proportional part.
Eleventh, I will and bequeath to my loving daughter Mary Simmons, alias Mary Troutman, the plantation adjoining this containing 250 acres and one Negro named Hannibal, remitting him his bonds more $200 from the proceeds of the plantation I now live on after the death of my present wife Elizabeth Troutman.
Twelfth, I will and bequeath unto my loving daughter Margaret the plantation on which Jackson Tably lived on containing 250 acres in the Negro boy called Charles. More to said Margaret $500 this currency to be paid out of the proceeds of the plantation on which I now live after the death of my present wife Elizabeth Troutman.
Thirteenth, I will and bequeath to Peggy Tombetson provided she stay with my wife until she is married the plantation adjoining the plantation I sold to Peter Brand containing 100 acres.
Fourteenth, I will and bequeath to my loving son Philip Troutman the whole of my lands and Mill on Cedar Creek in Bullitt County near Salt River with the condition to pay 1000 pounds to this Estate, 700 of which is to be given to my daughter Caty Troutman after the death of her mother my loving wife Elizabeth Troutman.
Fifteenth, I will and bequeath to my loving daughter Caty Troutman one Negro girl called Hegar after the death of my wife besides the 700 pounds which Philip Troutman will be obligated to pay the said Caty after the death of her mother.
Sixteenth, I will and bequeath to my loving wife Elizabeth Troutman the plantation I now live on during her life, 4 cows and 4 horses and 10 head of sheep with all the appurtainances belonging to the house and plantation, beside more: one Negro girl named Darkes and one Negro man called Ben with all the small Negroes with one Negro man named Fuller, moreover my wife is to take care of the Negro Slego and Tom as belonging to her. This plantation after my death and the death of my wife to be sold and the money arising from the sale to be equally divided among my last wife’s children; i.e., what is not before wills and I utterly disallow, revoke, and discourse all and every other former testaments, will, legacies, bequests and legacies and Executors by me in anywise before main will, and bequeath ratifying and confirming this and no other to be my last will and testament.
In witness I have hereunto let my hand and seal this ___ day of ___ in the year of our Lord 1814.
Signed, sealed, and published and pronounced and declared by the said Michael Troutman as his last will and testament in his presences and in the presence of each other have hereunto transcribed our names this 10th day of April 1814 AD. The intention of this will is that all my lawful debts are to be paid out of the Estate I leave behind and debts due to me, Michael Troutman. I do appoint and constitute my wife Elizabeth Troutman, my son Abraham Troutman, and Philip Troutman Executors of this my last will and testament. At a county court held for Bullitt County on Monday the 3rd day of July 1815 it was ordered that all the papers filed in the clerk office of this county and which by law were required to be recorded should be recorded forthwith. In pursuance of which order, James Hallbert, Clerk of said County, do hereby certify that the foregoing last will and testament of Michael Troutman, deceased, hath been truly recorded. The same having been duly proven by the oaths of William deFiohan and Sherwood Hundley, Subscribing witnesses thereto, given under my hand this 24th day of 1815.
