| Note | BENTON - Mrs. Martha M. Phillips, age 77, of Benton, Ky., died Thursday, October 27, 2011, at Marshall County Hospital in Benton, Ky.
She was a member of Benton Church of Christ and a faithful volunteer for Marshall County Needline.
Mrs. Phillips was a loving wife, mother, grandmother, and great-grandmother.
She was the daughter of the late Rex Shemwell and the late Lura Prior Shemwell.
She is survived by her husband, Gene Phillips, Benton, Ky.; three daughters, Julie Phillips, husband William, Tullahoma, Tenn., Janie Turner, Benton, Ky., Marcie Nance, husband Mike, Nashville, Tenn.; two sons: John Phillips, wife Tracy, Reidland, Ky., Charlie Phillips, wife Denise, Benton, Ky.; two sisters, Katherine Hearn, Odessa, Mo., Marge Story, San Angelo, Texas; 15 grandchildren; and 7 great-grandchildren.
She was preceded in death by her son, Casey Phillips; and brother, James Lee Shemwell.
Arrangements are being handled by Collier Funeral Home, P.O. Box 492, Benton, Ky.
Funeral service will be at Collier Funeral Chapel at 12 p.m. Saturday, October 29, 2011, Jim Phillips officiating.
Interment will follow at Smith Cemetery, Benton, Ky.
Visitation will be held on Friday, October 28, 2011, between the hours of 5 and 8 p.m. at Collier Funeral Home in Benton.
