Mrs. Catherine Gagliano of 547 East Frank, mother and grandmother of three well known Memphis athletic figures, died at noon yeserday, May 23, at St. Joseph Hospital after a heart attack. Mrs. Gagliano, who was 74, was the mother of Anthony J. Gagliano of 5083 Highway 51 South, head baseball coach at Christian Brothers High School, and grandmother of Phillip Gagliano of Memphis and St. Louis, utility infielder with the Saint Louis Cardinals and Ralph M. Gagliano Jr. of 845 Dickinson, Prep League baseball star at CGHS. Mrs. Gagliano was the wife of Joseph S. Gagliano Sr. of the East Frank address, a retired importer. She moved to Memphis about 50 years ago from Italy and was a communicant of St. Patrick's Catholic Church. She also leaves two other sons, Joseph S. Gagliano Jr. of 4946 Newhaven, an inspector with the Memphis Police Department, and Ralph M. Gagliano Sr. of the Dickinson address; two daughters, Mrs. Jane Massey of the East Frank address and Mrs. Pete Faulkner of 2059 Laramie; a sister, Grace Germano and a brother, Frank Germano, both of Italy; 10 other grandchildren and a great-grandchild.
