MRS. ELIZABETH COX
Elizabeth Jane Troutman was born near Logansport, Indiana, Sept. 8, 1839 and died at her home near Belle Plaine July, 15 th, 1925, aged 85 years 10 months and 8 days. She was united in marriage to James Henry Cox Jan. 21, 1858. To this union seven children were born, four of whom survive. They are Mrs. Mary E. Smith, Mrs. A.L. Barner, Mr. Joseph Cox and Mrs. Mertie H. Fisher. She leaves 12 grandchildren, 18 great-grandchildren, two sisters: Mrs. Phoebe Miller, and Mrs. Julia Gulick of Decatur, Ill;, one brother, Mr. Jacob Troutman of Atlanta, Kansas. Mrs. Cox came to Kansas from Decatur, Ill., in 1871, settling in the neighborhood of her last dwelling place at that time.
The Cox family has been one of the real early day families of the Ninnescah valley and the characteristics of kindness and thoughtfulness that was so nobly exemplified in the life of this grand old community mother is bound to leave a feeling of deepest regret at her passing by neighbors far and near. Her later years were saddened by the fight she had to make against the inroads of a cancer.
Mrs. Cox had been a member of the Methodist church for years. the funeral services were held at the Palestine church at 4 o'clock Friday afternoon. burial was made in the Belle Plaine cemetery.

Daughter of Peter and Mary Troutman. Phoebe married Ephraim Widick on March 3, 1864 in Macon County, Illinois. They had 1 child, Vilette M. Widick. They divorced in December 1882. He died in 1887. Phoebe married Jeremiah Miller on March 1, 1888 in Decatur, Macon County, Illinois.

Mrs. Phoebe L. Miller, 84, wife of Jeremiah Miller, died at 8:45 p.m. Sunday at the family home on route 2 west of Decatur. She had been in failing health for several years, suffering from the infirmities of age.
Mrs. Miller's maiden name was Phoebe L. Troutman, she was a daughter of Peter and Mary Troutman and was born in Fulton county, Ind., May 23, 1947. The family moved to Macon county when she was a little girl and for over seventy-five years she had resided a few miles west of Decatur. She was one of a family of eight children, all but two of whom have passed away. A brother, Jacob Troutman of Atlanta, Kan. and a sister, Mrs. Julia Gulick, Decatur, are all that remain of her father's family. She was twice married, her first husband being Ephraim Widick. He died many years ago. She and Jeremiah Miller were married in 1886. She had one daughter by her first husband, Violet Widick, who died in infancy. There is one step-son, William Miller. She was a charter member of Sharon Methodist and was known to most of the old residents of the county. The body was taken to the Moran & Sons funeral home.
The funeral will be held at 2:30 o'clock Tuesday afternoon at the Moran & Sons chapel. The burial will be held in the Wyckles cemetery.

RESIDENT OF COUNTY FOR 75 YEARS // Death Comes to Mrs. Phoebe Miller, Aged 84
Mrs. Phoebe L. Miller, 84, resident of Macon county for 75 years, died at 8:45 p.m. Sunday in her home on rule route 3 in Decatur township just west of the city. She had been in failing health for several years.
Phoebe Troutman was the daughter of Peter and Mary Troutman, Macon county pioneers. She was born in Fulton county, Ind. April 23, 1847, and came to Decatur with her parents when she was nine years old.
She was married to Ephriam Widick. A daughter, Violet Widick, died in infancy. After Mr. Widick's death she was married to Jeremiah Miller.
Surviving beside the husband are a stepson, William Miller; a brother, Jacob Troutman, Atlanta, Kas, and a sister, Mrs. Julia Gulick, Decatur.
Funeral services will be at 2:30 p.m. Tuesday in Moran & Sons chapel. Burial will be in the Wyckles cemetery. The body is in the Moran funeral home.

Death of Joel Morrison. Mention was made in these columns some days ago that Joel Morrison had been stricken down with a stroke of paralysis and was not expected to live. He died Wednesday night, June 6, at the residence of his son-in-law, Jacob Troutman, near Wyckel's station, aged 68 years. He had been sick for several months. He formally resided in Decatur, and leaves a widow and five children, two daughters and three sons. Mr. Morrison was a quiet old gentleman who made many friends and was highly esteemed.The funeral will take place on Friday at 9 a.m. from the Troutman residence services by Rev. H. C. Gibbs.

Peter Troutman Born: Mar. 12, 1816 Died: Nov. 12, 1899
Dr. Peter Troutman died at his home in Victor, Kansas, on Sunday, aged 84 years and 7 months. The deceased was formerly a resident of Macon county and was well known here. He was a native of Kentucky but when a child removed with his parents to Indiana and there he practice medicine for twenty-five years. He came to Illinois in 1856 and lived about four miles west of Decatur, where he engaged in farming. About twenty years ago he removed to Kansas and there he has been engaged in stock raising and farming.
He is survived by three sons, Samuel, of Decatur; Jacob, who lives four miles west of Decatur; and John Troutman, who lives at Victor, Kansas. Three daughters also survive him, Mrs. J. H. Cox, of Belle Plaines, Kansas, and Mrs. J. Miller and Mrs. Asa Gulick, living west of Decatur.
The remains will arrive in Decatur today and the funeral services will be at Sharon church four miles west of Decatur. The interment will be at Sharon burying ground.
