Note | 1870 Welborn Loftin age 7 b. abt 1863 son of Wilborn and Mary(Lanier) Loftin
1880 William Loftin age 17 b. abt 1863
1900 Thomas Loftin age 37 b. Apr 1863
1910 Thomas J Loftin age 47 b. Apr 1863
Death Cert. T. J. Loftin b. 4-10-1863 Father Wm Loftin - Mother Mary Lanier
Welborn Loftin disappears after the 1880 Census and Thomas J doesn't show up until 1900.
There is another T J Loftin but he is in Christian, Missouri and b. abt 1841 as well as a T J born in TN and died in Texas(mother Mary ? )
And the neighbor Thomas J Loftin in 1870 census. He was a neighbor to John Loftin. He was born in 1814 and married to a Margaret.
So… either Welborn died or disappears before 1900 and Thomas is another Mary Lanier’s son that’s not in any census prior to 1900.. There is a Mary Lanier in Williamston, Martin, North Carolina, and another in Fayetteville, Fayette, Georgia but that’s their married names and no sons named William, Wilborn or Thomas.
Or Wilborn and Thomas are the same person? Not 100% but makes the most sense to me… If they are both children of Wilborn and Mary Lanier. Can’t be twins or T J would have been in the 1870-80 census.
