Burial
Wanda Mae Miller Romero passed away on January 26, 2019 with her son, daughter-in-law and two grandchildren present in Marble Falls, TX. She was born in a log cabin, near Lowry City, MO, on July 1, 1918. In late 1938 she moved to Wyoming, which she called home for the rest of her life, even though she was in Texas for the last year and a half. She worked in the restaurant business most of her life. She and her husband Herman (deceased) started the Diamond Horseshoe Café in Cheyenne in approximately 1968 and through several ownership changes is still in operation today. Wanda loved to make things and was extremely talented. She was an avid crochetier, creating over 140 full size afghans, hundreds of baby afghans and a variety of misc. other creations too numerous to count. She was also a seamstress and a founding member of the “We Go Sewing” sewing club. She was a great cook and baker and famous for her pies, fried chicken and “left handed” gravy. She had a heart for service and helping others. Her door was always open and welcoming family and friends. After retiring in her seventies she worked with the RSVP program in Cheyenne for many years and was president for several years. She loved fishing and being outdoors. She and Herman established and managed the Soda Lake Fishing Club outside of Laramie. She was preceded in death by four siblings, she is the last of the generation. Also preceding her in death was her husband of 37 years at the time of his death, Herman Romero; sons Billy Joe Gwin; Myles Romero; daughter Carol Navarro; granddaughter Jennifer Romero; and great grandson Dean Romero. She is survived by son, Herman Lee Romero and wife Kathy; grandchildren Kathy Carr (Dave); Linda Lou McDonald (Butch); Justin Romero (Sabrina); and Amy Romero; seven great-grandchildren and six great great-grandchildren; and a host of nieces, nephews and friends. © Wyoming Tribune Eagle January 30, 2019
