Earl Fabler, 71, of 809,5. 27th St., died Friday in St. Joseph's Hospital a year's illness. He had retired in 1968,_ after 45 years, from the Indiana and .Michi7 On Electric Co.
Born Aug. 31, 1902, in Kewanna, Ind., he came to South Bend 50. years ago, from Fiffton, Ind. His first, wife, Cleah died on Oct. 31, 1953; and his second wife, Lois Marshall, died July 30; 1972. He is survived by a daughter, Mrs. Betty Hodgson of South Bend; two stepdaughters, Mrs. Virginia Summers of Grand Rapids, Mich., and Mrs. Roberta Lundsford Fort Wainwright, Alaska; nine grandchildren; two great-grandchildren; four half-sisters Marjorie Zellers and Mrs. Margaret Dudeck, both of South Bend, Mrs. Jean Hicks, of Indianapolis, and Mrs. Estila Stewart of Dillsboro, Ind., and three stepbrothers, Arthur Zellers of Kewanna, Merle Zellers of Rochester and Varn Zellers of Crown Point, Ind.
Friends may call from 2 to 4 and 7 to 9 p.m. Sunday in the Forest G. Hay Funeral Home, 435 S. Ironwood Dr. where services will be held at 1:30p.m. Monday. Rev. Scott Weaver, pastor of the Ireland Rd. Grace Brethren Church, will officiate. Burial will be in St. Joseph Valley Memorial Park. Mr. Fahler was a member of the Moose Lodge, South Bend and the Eagles Lodge, Mishawaka.

KOKOMO - Betty Ruth Hodgson, 84, of Kokomo, Indiana, formerly of South Bend passed away at 3:35 AM Wednesday August 5, 2009 at Waterford Place. She was born on February 15, 1925 in Mishawaka, IN to Earl E. and Cleah (Kimble) Fahler. On July 22, 1945 at River Park Methodist Church, she married Charles T. Hodgson. He passed away on February 8, 1998. Betty retired from Sears and Roebuck in South Bend in 1974 where she worked for approximately 9 years. She graduated from John Adams High School in 1943. She was a member of Beta Chi Sorority and the Sub Deb Club. Betty enjoyed sewing, knitting, and camping. Survivors include a son, R. Tom Hodgson of Fox Lake, IL; one daughter Norma Tate and husband (Timothy) of Kokomo; one grandson, Troy Tate and his wife (Leanna) of Russiaville; one Granddaughter Tina Buch and her husband (Jason) of Russiaville; and four great grandchildren, Bretta Tate, Madison Tate, Rose Buch, and Anna Buch. She was preceded in death by her parents and husband. A Graveside Service will be held at 11:00 AM on Monday August 10, 2009 at St. Joseph Valley Memorial Park 16460 Cleveland Road in Granger, IN. Burial will be in St. Joseph Valley Memorial Park. Friends may call from 4 - 6 PM Sunday at Stout & Son Funeral Home Russiaville Chapel 200 E. Main St. Russiaville, and 10:30 - 11:00 AM Monday at the Chapel in St. Joseph Valley Memorial Park in Granger, IN. Memorial Contributions may be made to Gideon's International.
