Andrew J Gelbaugh Obituary and Family Listing Published in The Rochester News-Sentinel Saturday, December 28, 1929 Andrew J. GELBAUGH, aged 78, died at 4:30 o'clock Friday afternoon at his home 421 West Seventh Street after a three months illness caused by neuritis. The deceased was born in Pittsburgh, Pa., on June 14, 1851, th son of Philip and Katherine GELBAUGH. Mr. Gelbaugh when 14 years of age moved to Bucyrus, Ohio with his parents. When he was 21 years of age Mr. Gelbaugh came to this county settling on a farm near Kewanna where he remained until 31 years ago when he moved to this city to make his home. By occupation, Mr. Gelbaugh was a farmer and a carpenter. Survivors are the widow who was Elvira SLICK BIBLER whom the deceased married at Kewanna in 1881, two daughters, Mrs. Alf CARTER of this city and Mrs. Milton ROBINSON of South Bend, three step-sons, William [BIBLER], Charles [BIBLER] and Albert BIBLER and a sister Mrs. E. M. EMSBERGER of Pontiac, Mich. Mr. Gelbaugh was a member of the International Bible Students Association and for over 50 years was affiliated with the Odd Fellows lodge. Funeral services will be held from the residence at 2:30 o'clock Sunday afternoon with the Rev. F. G. KUEBLER in charge. Burial will be made in the Odd Fellows cemetery. Wilson (nee Gelbaugh) Obituary and Family Listing Published in the Rochester(IN) News-Sentinel, Saturday, March 24, 1928 Mrs. Effie WILSON, 44, formerly of this city, passed away at her home in Elwood, Ind., Thursday afternoon following an illness of a year's duration from influenza and complications. Effie [GELBAUGH], daughter of Mr. and Mrs. A. J. GELBAUGH, was born in Rochester in the year of 1884 and resided in this city for 23 years. Several years ago she was married to F. A. WILSON and to this union four children were born. The deceased is survived by her husband, two sons, Donald [WILSON], of Chicago, John [WILSON] at home; two daughters, Kathryn [WILSON] and Maryann [WILSON] both at home; two sisters, Mrs. Alf CARTER of this city and Mrs. Milton ROBINSON of Kewanna. Funeral services will be held in Kewanna Sunday afternoon at 2:30 o'clock at the home of Hugh WILSON. Rev. HILDEBRANDT, of Culver, will have charge of the services. Elvira Catherine Gelbaugh (nee Slick) Obituary and Family Listing Published in The Rochester News-Sentinel Monday, April 19, 1943 Mrs. Elvira GELBAUGH, a pioneer resident of Rochester and Fulton county, passed away 6:45 o'clock Saturday evening at the home of her daughter, Mrs. Alf Carter, 713 Pontiac street, this city. Mrs. Gelbaugh, who was the oldest lady resident of Rochester would have observed her 95th birthday on Thursday, April 22nd, had she lived. The deceased had a host of friends throughout Rochester and Fulton county. For the past 15 years Mrs. Gelbaugh had made her home with Mr. and Mrs. Alf Carter. She had been in ill health for approximately a year from complications and had been bedfast for the past six months. Elvira [SLICK], daughter of John and Susan SLICK, was born April 22nd, 1848 in Morrow county, Ohio and came to Fulton county, Indiana, when she was but five years of age. The Slick family made the trip by covered wagon and settled on a farm three miles east of Kewanna. Elvira Slick resided in that community until her marriage in 1865 to Nathan BIBLER, a Civil War veteran, who preceded her in death. In 1881 she was united in marriage to Andrew J. GELBAUGH and the couple moved from the Union township farm to this city a half century ago, where she has since resided. Mr. Gelbaugh passed away in 1929. Mrs. Gelbaugh was a member of Trinity Evangelical church of this city and was an active worker in that organization until advanced years precluded her activity in this field. Survivors are a son, Albert BIBLER, of this city; two daughters, Mrs. Alf CARTER, of this city, and Mrs. Milton ROBINSON, of South Bend; two brothers, Herman SLICK, of Kewanna, and Melvin SLICK, of Wilmington, Calif.; 13 grandchildren and 12 great-grandchildren One granddaughter, Mrs. Jack WRIGHT, of this city, was reared from infancy by Mrs. Gelbaugh. Funeral services will be held Tuesday afternoon, two o'clock, at the Evangelical church with Rev. C. J. COVERSTONE in charge. Interment will be made in the Rochester I.O.O.F. cemetery.
