Charles Edward Brown Obituary and Family Listing Published in the Rochester(IN) Sentinel, Tuesday, May 7, 1974 Charles E. BROWN, 84, R.R. 2, Macy, died at 7:15 a.m. today at the residence of Lester KITNER, R.R. 2, Macy. He had been ill since March 7. Born March 30, 1890, in Fulton county, he was the son of William and Margaret GREGORY BROWN. His first marriage was July 17, 1912, to Gail CARTER. She preceded in death in 1960. His second marriage was to Lena SATTERTHWAITE in 1964. She died in 1973. A retired farmer, he was a lifetime resident of Fulton county. He was a member of the First United Methodist church at Lincolnville. Surviving are one daughter, Mrs. Emerson (Hazel) SHEETS, Akron; one brother, Arthur BROWN, Akron; one sister, Miss Hester BROWN, Logansport; two step-daughters, Mrs. Harry (Hester) WRIGHT, Marion, and Mrs. Don (Joann) EVANS, Mishawaka; four grandchildren; five step-grandchildren; five great-grandchildren. One son, a daughter and three brothers preceded in death. Final rites will be at 2 p.m. Friday in the Ditmire-Zimmerman funeral home in Fulton. The Rev. Carl THOMPSON will officiate. Burial will be in the Fulton cemetery. Friends may call at the funeral home after 2 p.m. Thursday. William A Carter Obituary and Family Listing Published in The Rochester Sentinel Friday, August 3, 1945 William A. Carter Death came last night at 9:20 o'clock to William A. CARTER, 79, a real estate man in this community for the past 25 years, and a well known and highly respected citizen. The deceased, who was 79 last April 11, was born on a farm southwest of Kewanna in 1866, the son of John J. and Sarah (BARNETT) CARTER. On Dec. 2, 1890, at a ceremony performed at Logansport, he was united in marriage with Amelia Jane MOORE. He came to this city from Twelve Mile in 1920, and has since resided here at 418 Jefferson street. Death was due to complications from which he has suffered since early April, when he was confined in Woodlawn hospital. Surviving are the wife; one son, Estel [CARTER], of Rochester; one daughter, Mrs. Charles BROWN of the Lake Nyona community; one sister, Mrs. Essie LAMBORN of Hammond; two grandchildren and three great-grandchildren. Final rites will be held from the Zimmerman Bros. chapel at two o'clock Sunday afternoon with the Rev. B. G. THOMAS officiating. Burial will be made in IOOF cemetery. Amelia Jane Carter (nee Moore) Obituary and Family Listing Published in The Rochester Sentinel Wednesday, April 28, 1948 Amelia Jane Carter Mrs. Amelia Jane CARTER, 84, 418 Jefferson street, died at 6:15 a.m. today at the Jones Nursing home at Logansport where she had been a patient for the last three months. The deceased woman, who had been ill since 1941, died as a result of paralysis. Born March 6, 1864, near Metea, Mrs. Carter was the daughter of Thomas and Lydia SHILLING MOORE. She was married to William CARTER Dec. 2, 1890, in Logansport. He preceded her in death Aug.2, 1945. She came to Rochester in 1925 from Twelve Mile. Survivors include a son, Estil CARTER of Rochester; and a daughter, Mrs. Charles BROWN of Macy. Funeral services will be at 2 p.m. Friday in the Zimmerman Brothers funeral home with the Rev. Estel Carter Obituary and Family History Published in The Rochester Sentinel Monday, November 17, 1969 Estel Carter Estel "Duke" CARTER, 68, 222 East Sixth street, died at 11:45 a.m. Saturday in Woodlawn hospital where he had been a patient since Thursday. He had been seriously ill since Sept. 1. A lifetime resident of this community, he was born Oct. 8, 1901, near Kewanna, the son of William A. and Amelia Jane MOORE CARTER. His marriage was May 28, 1935, in Rochester, to Susie Mae GIBBONS, who survives. Mr. Carter was a retired restaurant operator and operated the People's Cafe in Rochester many years. He later was caterer for the Reiter Grade school lunch program and for the Fulton County Community Sales Barn. He was a member of the Masonic lodge, Rochester Elks and the Eagles Lodge. Surviving with his wife are a niece, Mrs. [M.] Emerson (Hazel [R.]) [SHEETS], Akron, and several cousins. Final rites will be at 2 p.m. Tuesday in the Zimmerman Brothers funeral home. The Revs. Smiley JOHNSON and V. A. LALLEMENT will officiate. Burial will be in the I.O.O.F. cemetery here. Hazel Sheets (nee Brown) Obituary and Family Listing Published in the Rochester(IN) Sentinel, Monday, February 7, 2005 Hazel (Sheets) Green, Jan. 20, 1913-Feb. 5, 2005 Hazel (Sheets) Green, 92, Timbercrest Retirement Home, North Manchester, and formerly of Akron, died at 3:50 a.m. Saturday at Timbercrest Retirement Home. Born in Macy to Charlie Brown and Gail Carter, she attended Fulton High School and graduated from Rochester High School in 1932. She married M. Emerson Sheets on May 30, 1932. He died Oct. 9, 1980. On June 9, 1985, she married Charlie Green. He died Dec. 18, 1997. She retired from the Indiana Department of Revenue Service after 22 years of service. She received a plaque of commendation certificate for outstanding service in 1982. A member of Akron United Methodist Church for more than 50 years, she taught Sunday School there in the earlier years. Survivors include two sons, Dennis and wife Donna Sheets, Indianapolis, and Arnold and wife Mary Sheets, San Diego, Calif.; one stepdaughter, Janice and husband Gilbert Raderstorf, Logansport; one stepson, Richard and wife Jane Green, Kewanna; six grandchildren; three great-grandchildren; six step-grandchildren; 11 step-great-grandchildren. Preceding her in death, with her husbands, were one brother, Vernon, and one sister, Mildred. Her funeral service will be at 2 p.m. Tuesday at Timbercrest Chapel, North Manchester, with Chaplain Joan Deeter officiating. Burial will be at Akron Cemetery, Akron.
