Hazel Sheets (nee Brown) Obituary and Family Listing Published in the Rochester(IN) Sentinel, Monday, February 7, 2005 Hazel (Sheets) Green, Jan. 20, 1913-Feb. 5, 2005 Hazel (Sheets) Green, 92, Timbercrest Retirement Home, North Manchester, and formerly of Akron, died at 3:50 a.m. Saturday at Timbercrest Retirement Home. Born in Macy to Charlie Brown and Gail Carter, she attended Fulton High School and graduated from Rochester High School in 1932. She married M. Emerson Sheets on May 30, 1932. He died Oct. 9, 1980. On June 9, 1985, she married Charlie Green. He died Dec. 18, 1997. She retired from the Indiana Department of Revenue Service after 22 years of service. She received a plaque of commendation certificate for outstanding service in 1982. A member of Akron United Methodist Church for more than 50 years, she taught Sunday School there in the earlier years. Survivors include two sons, Dennis and wife Donna Sheets, Indianapolis, and Arnold and wife Mary Sheets, San Diego, Calif.; one stepdaughter, Janice and husband Gilbert Raderstorf, Logansport; one stepson, Richard and wife Jane Green, Kewanna; six grandchildren; three great-grandchildren; six step-grandchildren; 11 step-great-grandchildren. Preceding her in death, with her husbands, were one brother, Vernon, and one sister, Mildred. Her funeral service will be at 2 p.m. Tuesday at Timbercrest Chapel, North Manchester, with Chaplain Joan Deeter officiating. Burial will be at Akron Cemetery, Akron. Visitation will be one hour prior to the service Tuesday. Memorials may be made to Akron United Methodist Church, Akron. Mrs. Brown had resided in Albuquerque for the past nine years. She had resided in Fulton and Miami counties before moving to Albuquerque. She had been in failing health for the past 14 years. Mrs. Brown was born Nov. 19, 1891, in Fulton county to William and Millie CARTER. She was married July 17, 1912, in Miami county to Charles BROWN, who survives. Surviving are the husband, R.R. 2, Macy; one son, Vernon C. BROWN, Albuquerque; one daughter, Mrs. Hazel SHEETS, Akron; one brother, Estel CARTER, Rochester; five grandchildren. BROWN, 84, R.R. 2, Macy, died at 7:15 a.m. today at the residence of Lester KITNER, R.R. 2, Macy. He had been ill since March 7. Born March 30, 1890, in Fulton county, he was the son of William and Margaret GREGORY BROWN. His first marriage was July 17, 1912, to Gail CARTER. She preceded in death in 1960. His second marriage was to Lena SATTERTHWAITE in 1964. She died in 1973. A retired farmer, he was a lifetime resident of Fulton county. He was a member of the First United Methodist church at Lincolnville. Surviving are one daughter, Mrs. Emerson (Hazel) SHEETS, Akron; one brother, Arthur BROWN, Akron; one sister, Miss Hester BROWN, Logansport; two step-daughters, Mrs. Harry (Hester) WRIGHT, Marion, and Mrs. Don (Joann) EVANS, Mishawaka; four grandchildren; five step-grandchildren; five great-grandchildren. One son, a daughter and three brothers preceded in death. Final rites will be at 2 p.m. Friday in the Ditmire-Zimmerman funeral home in Fulton. The Rev. Carl THOMPSON will officiate.
