Merl C. Carter, 70, of Rt. 1, died Tuesday in his home. He was born on Nov. 11, 1911. in Fulton County. On Feb. 19, 1931, in Kewanna, he married Blanche Marie Jones, who survives.
Other survivors include a son, Gerald (Jack) of Union Mills; three grandchildren; and a great-grandchild.
He was retired as a security officer for the Indiana State Prison, Michigan City.
Services were in the Weaver Funeral Home. Rev. David Hogsett, pastor of the Hanna United Methodist Church, officiating.

Services will be held Monday at 1:30 p.m. at the Harrison chapel in Kewanna for William J. CARTER, 53, Indianapolis, Fulton county native, who died Thursday night in General hospital, Indianapolis.
Mr. Carter was born April 30, 1907, in Fulton county to James and Minnie CANFORD CARTER. He was married to Marguerite FRAZIER who survives.
Also surviving are three brothers, Thomas [CARTER], Kewanna; Fayette [CARTER], Ruford, Idaho, and Merle [CARTER], Laporte; one sister, Mrs. Nellie GREER, R.R. 1, Kewanna.
The Rev. Carl YOUNT will officiate at the services and burial will be made at the Grass Creek cemetery. Friends may call at the funeral home.

Gerald L. “Jack” Carter, 83 of Union Mills, passed away Friday, January 27, 2015 in LaPorte.
He was born July 27, 1931 in Lucerne, Indiana to Meryl C. and Blanch (Jones) Carter. On June 1, 1957, he married Judith E. Escher who survives.
Also surviving are his children, Bruce A. Carter of South Bend, Jack J. (Sheri) Carter of Union Mills, Brenda L. (Carter) Harshman of Union Mills, eight grandchildren and 15 great grandchildren.
Gerald was preceded in death by his parents and his daughter-in-law, Soji O’Connor.
He was a Korean War veteran, a member of the Hanna United Methodist Church and the Union Mills American Legion Post #295.
He was a quality control technician for Whirlpool in LaPorte before retiring in 1995.

The funeral services for Florence May Demerly, wife of J. L. Demerly,who died Saturday night, will
be held at the residence at 614 Fifteenth street, this afternoon at 1 o'cock. Services will be conducted
by the Rev. Kendall with Interment in Round Lake cemetery in Fulton county.
Survivors are her husband, J. L. Demerly, three children, Willard age 14, Grace, 11 and Annabelle, 9;
parents, Mr. and 'Mrs. James Carter, Grass Creek; five brothers, John Carter, Sheerville, Ind., Thomas, William, Fayette and Merle of Grass Creek, and two sisters, Mrs. Emma Steel, South Whitley, and Nellie Geer of Kewanna.
