Carol Sue Carter Heater Hahn, 93, of Mishawaka passed away on Monday, August 30, 2022. Carol was born in Winamac, IN on February 17, 1929, to the late John A. and Ethel E. (Dellinger) Carter. Carol attended school and graduated from Kewanna High School in 1947 as Valedictorian.
On November 17, 1947, in Kewanna, IN she married James B. Heater who preceded her in death on March 31, 1984. They had 2 daughters, Linda C. Nagy and Judith A. Pauwels who survive. Also surviving are her 4 granddaughters, Angie (Mark) Strawmyer, Christie (Stefan) Selby, Jennifer (Michael) Reppert and Melissa (John) Delph; 4 great grandsons, Jacob Delph, Colin and Chandler Selby and Brady Strawmyer; a great granddaughter, Abby Strawmyer; and a sister-in-law, Lois Heater. She is preceded in death by her sons-in-law, Don Nagy and Tom Pauwels.
On February 19, 1989, she married Dale E. Hahn who preceded her in death on May 29, 2006. She is survived by her stepchildren, Susan (Larry) Stamm, Patty Moore (Wayne Rowe), Cathy (William) Bugg, and William (Kathi) Hahn; step daughter-in-law, Cindy Hahn; 10 step grandchildren, Chad (Jami) Stamm, Grant (Susan) Moore, Ryan (Betsy) Stamm, Kyle (Rhiannon) Moore, Brian (Lindsay) Bugg, Tim (Carrie) Bugg, Brandon (Corey Jo) Bugg, Matthew (Christie) Hahn, Ashley (Brian) Calvery; and Jamie (Ben) Gelfand; and 23 step great grandchildren. She is preceded in death by a stepson, Jim Hahn.
Carol moved to Mishawaka in 1955. She was a member of 1st United Methodist Church in Mishawaka since 1958. She was very active in the church women s activities and volunteered in other church activities. Carol was also the Financial Secretary at the church until her retirement in 1990. She was a life member of St. Joseph Hospital Auxiliary in Mishawaka working in the gift shop for 43 years. She served as a Camp Fire girls leader for 10 years (1957-1967). In the 1960 s, she worked at 1st Source Bank, formerly 1st National Bank.
Carol loved traveling and had visited each of the 50 states. She loved jigsaw puzzles, reading, word and number puzzles, playing cards, and watching game shows. Carol had a deep faith in God, love for her family and extended family.
Visitation will be 3pm-7pm Thursday, September 1, 2022, at Hahn Funeral Home, 505 W. 8th Street, Mishawaka, IN 46544. Funeral Service will be at 11 am on Friday, September 2, 2022, at 1st United Methodist Church, 201 E. 3rd Street, Mishawaka, IN 46544 with visitation 1 hour prior to service in the church.
