Gerald L Carter Obituary and Family Listing Gerald L. “Jack” Carter, 83 of Union Mills, passed away Friday, January 27, 2015 in LaPorte. He was born July 27, 1931 in Lucerne, Indiana to Meryl C. and Blanch (Jones) Carter. On June 1, 1957, he married Judith E. Escher who survives. Also surviving are his children, Bruce A. Carter of South Bend, Jack J. (Sheri) Carter of Union Mills, Brenda L. (Carter) Harshman of Union Mills, eight grandchildren and 15 great grandchildren. Gerald was preceded in death by his parents and his daughter-in-law, Soji O’Connor. He was a Korean War veteran, a member of the Hanna United Methodist Church and the Union Mills American Legion Post #295. He was retired as a security officer for the Indiana State Prison, Michigan City. Services were in the Weaver Funeral Home. Rev.
