Earl R. KUHN, 69, of 708 E. Rochester St., Akron, died at 2 a.m. today at Fort Wayne Parkview Hospital. He had been ill two years and six months. He was born in Akron Jan. 9, 1914, to Clyde and Elvida BURNS KUHN. He had lived in Akron all his life. On Sept. 19, 1943, he married Thelma ARMSTRONG in LaPorte. She survives. He was a supervisor for Sonoco Products Co., retiring Jan. 1, 1976. He worked in the same plant all his working life, beginning when it was known as the Rittenhouse Co. It later was changed to the CKR Co. Prior to becoming Sonoco, it was known as the Tru-Temper Corp. Mr. Kuhn was a member of the Akron United Methodist Church, Akron Masons and Eastern Star, Akron Lions Club and the Akron Chamber of Commerce. He was a past worthy patron of the Eastern Star, past president of the Lions and past secretary of the Chamber of Commerce. Surviving with the wife are two sons, Ronald L. [KUHN], Fort Wayne, and the Rev. Charles ARMSTRONG, New Castle, and five grandchildren. A brother, Harold [KUHN], preceded in death. Services will be at 11 a.m. Thursday at the Akron United Methodist Church, the Revs. Harold LEININGER and Frank CRAMER officiating. Burial will be in the Akron Cemetery. Friends may call after 2 p.m. Wednesday at the Deaton Funeral Home, Akron, and the hour prior to services Thursday at the church. Masonic memorial services will be at 8 p.m. Wednesday. Memorials may be made to the Akron United Methodist Church organ fund.

RONALD KUHN Obituary
RONALD L. KUHN, 70, of LaGrange, formerly of Fort Wayne, died on Wednesday, Aug. 26, 2009, at his residence. Born May 6, 1939, in Akron, Ind., he was a member of Fort Wayne Friends Church. He retired after 36 years from Fort Wayne Community Schools, where he touched the lives of thousands during his career. He received his Bachelor's degree from Manchster College and his Masters degree form Indiana University. He was also a former member of Toastmasters Club and Treasurer of Gulf Lake Estates, in Bradenton, Fla. He enjoyed his family, music, fishing, and coin collecting, loved to sing, and doing magic with his grandchildren. "We take comfort in knowing, that through his faith, he is in a better place." Surviving are his wife of 47 years, Dianne; daughter, Kristie (Todd) Jacobs of Fort Wayne; son, Kip (Kari) Kuhn of Mt. Pleasant, Vt.; and four grandchildren. Private family service at a later date. A visitation celebrating Ron's life (as a cherished husband, father, grandfather, uncle, teacher, and friend) is from 1 to 4 p.m. Sunday at Hockemeyer & Miller Funeral Home, 6131 St. Joe Road. Preferred memorials to National Kidney Foundation.
