Charles O. Troutman, 69, son of the late John and Lurah Troutman, died Thursday, May 17, 1956 at the home of his daughter, Mrs. John Bishop near Versailles. He was born December 17, 1886 in Kansas City, Missouri. In 1917 he married Grace Bales and of this union were born 5 children. He united with the Rocky Branch Methodist Church in Calloway County. He is survived by 5 children: Francis, Dorsey and Joe Troutman, all of Kansas City, Missouri, Mrs Lucille Bishop of Versailles. and Mrs. Lurah Marriott of St Joseph Missouri; 3 sisters: Mrs. Gladys Couts of Oakland California, Mrs. Hattie Stroham of McPherson Kansas and Mrs. Pearl Alton of Kansas City; 5 grandchildren; 2 step-children. He was preceded in death by 1 sister: Mrs. Essie Bailey and 1 brother: Floyd Troutman.
Funeral services were held at the First Baptist Church with the Rev. L.E. Johnson officiating. Hymns were sung by Mrs. Loetta Pace, Mrs. Mary Berkstresser, Edgar Carpenter and Clarence Davis - accompanied by Mrs. L.E. DeVinno. Pall bearers were: Sam Elliott, W.E. Turpin, Cecil Parsons, Speed Marriott and Lee Chapman. Interment in the Versailles cemetery.

Francis C. Troutman, age 74, of Versailles, passed away Thursday afternoon, February 18, 1993, at the Good Shepherd Nursing Home in Versailles. He was born March 5, 1918 in Kansas City, MO to the late Charles O. and Grace Bales Troutman.
He was a retired truck driver for Cooper Transport in Kansas City. He was a U. S. Army veteran of World War II, member of the V. F. W. Post #5902 of Gravois Mills and the West Union Baptist Church near Versailles.
He was preceded in death by his parents and a brother, Dorsey E. Troutman. Survivors include a brother, Joe Troutman, of Versailles; two sisters, Lucille Bishop, of Versailles and Lurah Marriott of Kansas City, MO and many nieces and nephews and friends.

Lurah I. Marriott

KANSAS CITY, Mo. - Lurah I. Marriott, 86, Kansas City, formerly of St. Joseph, passed away Tuesday, Sept. 9, 2008, at a Gladstone, Mo., health-care center.
Mrs. Marriott was born Dec. 5, 1921, in Versailles, Mo., to Charles and Grace Troutman. She lived in St. Joseph for 30 years and Kansas City for 34 years.
She married Norman W. "Johnnie" Marriott on Dec. 11, 1939, at Versailles.
Mrs. Marriott worked in the sausage department at Armour & Co. for 35 years, retiring in 1983.
She loved camping, playing cards and bingo, and especially spending time with her family and friends.
Mrs. Marriott was preceded in death by her parents; and two brothers, Frances and Dorsey Troutman.
She is survived by her husband of 68 years, Johnnie of the home; her son, Charles Marriott, and his wife, Nancy of St. Joseph; a brother, Joe Troutman of Versailles; and sister, Lucille Bishop of Lee's Summit, Mo., as well as several nieces and nephews.
The funeral service will be conducted at 10 a.m. Friday at Rupp Funeral Home, St. Joseph. Interment will be at the Versailles, Mo., Cemetery. The family will receive friends from 2 to 4 p.m. Thursday at the funeral home.
