Avis V. Egbert, 92, of Syracuse passed away on Wednesday, May 25th. Avis was born in North Syracuse, to the late, Bessie and Melvin Graves, on Feb. 12, 1930. She was employed at Gethsemane U.M. Church, in Syracuse, for over 43 years. She was predeceased by her husband, Leonard; by her son, Mark, and by her granddaughter, Danielle. Survivors include her son, Daniel (Rykie) Egbert of Sheridan, WY; her 5 grandchildren; 12 great-grandchildren; 3 great-great-grandchildren; nieces and nephews, and many friends at Vinettte Towers and Gethsemane Church. A service, celebrating her life, will take place Sunday, June 12th, at 11:30 am at Gethsemane U.M. Church, 1700 Butternut St, Syracuse. Private burial will take place in Onondaga County Veterans Cemetery.

Services for MRS. BESSIE E. GRAVES, 73, of Newport Road, Warners, who died Monday in St. Joseph’s Hospital, will be at 10:30 a.m. tomorrow at the B. L. Bush & Sons Funeral Home, Camillus, the Rev. Howard F. Buies officiating. Burial will be in Greenlawn Memorial Park, Warners.
Born in Missouri, Mrs. Graves lived in Warners seven years.
Surviving are two sons, Ralph Hollenback of West Monroe and Chester Hollenback of Tujunga, Calif.; five daughters, Mrs. Vera Woodward of Warners, Mrs. Doris Young of Adams Center, Mrs. Leonard Egbert of Syarcuse, Mrs. Shirley Graves of Warners and Mrs. Myron Snider of Sulpula, Okla.; two sisters, Mrs. Leon Carson of Atlanta, Ind., and Mrs. Erwin Miller of Indianapolis, Ind.; 26 grandchildren.
Friends may call 2 to 4 and 7 to 9 p.m. today at the funeral home.

Shirley L. Graves, 76, of Syracuse, passed away on Sunday. She had worked as a file clerk for Bond, Schoeneck, King Law Firm for 20 years. Shirley was a former member of the LaFayette Avenue United Methodist Church where she taught Sunday school and Gethsemane United Methodist Church. She is survived by her sister, Avis Egbert; many nieces and nephews; great-nieces and great-nephews. Calling hours will be Thursday 11 a.m. to 1:30 p.m. at the Carter Funeral Home, 1604 Grant Blvd., Syracuse with a service to follow. Burial will be in Greenlawn Cemetery, Warners. Contributions to the Gethsemane United Methodist Church.
