Charles Norman Marriott, 70, St. Joseph, Missouri, died Wednesday, September 21, 2011 at Heartland Regional Medical Center.
He was born November 2, 1940 to Norman Waldo and Lurah Irene (Troutman) Marriott in St. Joseph. He remained a lifelong resident.
Mr. Marriott graduated from Benton High School and married Nancy Hughes June 18, 1960. He served in the U.S. Army during Viet Nam.
Charles served the city as a Firefighter and was a member of VFW #59 and liked to travel and camp. He was a history buff who loved to read and collect coins
He was preceded in death by his parents.
Survivors: his wife, St. Joseph; nephew, Raymond P. Hughes (Susan), Thornton, Colorado; niece, Carrie Kay McGinness, Tonganoxie, Kansas; and several cousins.
Memorial Services: 1:00 P.M. Thursday, Meierhoffer Funeral Home & Crematory.

Lurah I. Marriott
1921-2008
KANSAS CITY, Mo. - Lurah I. Marriott, 86, Kansas City, formerly of St. Joseph, passed away Tuesday, Sept. 9, 2008, at a Gladstone, Mo., health-care center.
Mrs. Marriott was born Dec. 5, 1921, in Versailles, Mo., to Charles and Grace Troutman. She lived in St. Joseph for 30 years and Kansas City for 34 years.
She married Norman W. "Johnnie" Marriott on Dec. 11, 1939, at Versailles.
Mrs. Marriott worked in the sausage department at Armour & Co. for 35 years, retiring in 1983.
She loved camping, playing cards and bingo, and especially spending time with her family and friends.
Mrs. Marriott was preceded in death by her parents; and two brothers, Frances and Dorsey Troutman.
She is survived by her husband of 68 years, Johnnie of the home; her son, Charles Marriott, and his wife, Nancy of St. Joseph; a brother, Joe Troutman of Versailles; and sister, Lucille Bishop of Lee's Summit, Mo., as well as several nieces and nephews.
The funeral service will be conducted at 10 a.m. Friday at Rupp Funeral Home, St. Joseph. Interment will be at the Versailles, Mo., Cemetery. The family will receive friends from 2 to 4 p.m. Thursday at the funeral home.

Norman Waldo Marriott, 90, of Saint Joseph, MO passed away Saturday, July 3, 2010 in a Saint Joseph, MO hospital.
He was born March 3, 1920 in Versailles, MO, the son of Nora and Orva Marriott.
He had lived in Kansas City, MO for over 30 years prior to returning to St. Joseph and residing at Country Squire.
Johnny served in the Army and is a veteran of the World War II receiving the infantry war badge. He retired from Armour & Company after 30 years of service. He enjoyed fishing, hunting and camping, he and was a member of King Hill Masonic Lodge #376 and was of the Baptist faith.
Survivors include a son, Charles Marriott and wife Nancy of St. Joseph, MO; two brothers, Arnold Eugene Marriott of Kansas City, MO, and T.L. Marriott of Zellwood, FL; and several, nieces & nephews.
Norman was preceded in death by his parents; Nora and Orva Marriott, his wife; Lurah, three brothers, Truman, Paul and William Gregory Marriott; two sisters, Goldie Busick, and Lorene Marriott.
The family will receive friends from 6:00 to 8:00 p.m. on Tuesday at the Rupp Funeral Home.
Funeral services will be conducted on Wednesday, July 7, 2010 at 10:00 a.m., at the Rupp Funeral Home with Rev. Albert Shirley officiating. The interment will be at the Versailles Cemetery, Versailles, Missouri at 2:30 p.m. Wednesday.
