Stanley D Clapper Obituary and Family Listing STAN CLAPPER DROWNED AT TRENTON LAKE Tragedy touched St. Francis this past week end when the news came back from Trenton Dam that popular young Stanley Clapper, 26, of St. Francis, had been drowned in a boating mishap. Stan, as he was known to his many friends, was a mechanic for Touslee Ford Sales and is survived by his wife Barbara and two young sons. He is also survived by his parents Mr. and Mrs. Lee Clapper of St. Francis. According to the Hitchcock County Sheriff, the accident occurred about three miles west of the spillway at Trenton. In the 12 foot wooden boat with Clapper were Mr. and Mrs. Jimmy Roylston of St. Francis and Robert Waltburg of Brighton, Colo. The boat was swamped by waves when a sudden high wind arose. The three survivors were picked up by a rescue boat and the body of Clapper recovered about three hours later. The sheriff reported that this was the ninth drowning since the reservoir was opened several years ago. Funeral services will be conducted Thursday afternoon, May 6, 1965, at 2 p.m. at Riddell's Chapel. The Herald joins the entire community in expressing sincere sympathy to the bereaved family. * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * OBITUARY OF STANLEY CLAPPER Stanley Dwayne Clapper, son of Lee and Minnie Clapper was born in La Jara, Colo., May 7, 1938.
