Paula Maxine Ambrose (Clapper) Obituary and Family Listing Bedford Times-Press, June 2006 Ambrose, Maxine Paula Clapper - Graveside services for Maxine Ambrose, age 86 of Gravity who died Sunday, May 28, 2006 at the Methodist Hospital in Omaha were held Thursday, June 1, 2006 at 11 a.m. at the Washington Cemetery in Gravity. Memorials can be given in her name. Maxine Paula (Clapper) Ambrose was born April 11, 1920, in Fremont County, Iowa the daughter of Perry Albert Clapper and Pearl Ora (Thompson) Clapper. She grew up on a farm south of Tabor, and later the family moved into Tabor where she graduated from high school. She met Wade Ambrose and the couple was united in marriage on December 20, 1939, in Savannah, Missouri. After their marriage, Maxine and Wade moved to Plattsmouth, Nebraska where Wade was a magician. He and Maxine moved to Florida where they lived and traveled around performing magic shows. In 1985, they moved to Gravity where she continued to live until her death. Maxine loved cats, and was always willing to take in another. She was a people person who enjoyed being around others. Although she had no children of her own, Maxine, being the very tender hearted sole she was, loved taking care of animals. Left to cherish Maxine's memory are her five brothers and sisters: Elda Lybarger and husband Dwight; Darlene Smith and husband Ernest; Donald Clapper; Bob Clapper, all of Tabor; and JoAnne Davis of Bellevue, Nebraska; a brother-in-law, Lloyd Ambrose of Denison; and a sister-in-law, Delores Ambrose of Gravity; along with many nieces and nephews.
