Emma E. Snider, the daughter of Howard and Gertrude (Bell) Armstrong, was born in McLean County Ill., on April 21, 1907. Mrs. Snider, 77, of Queen City, died unexpectedly late Wednesday afternoon, February 13, 1985 at her home, of an apparent heart attack. On March 13, 1928 in Ogallala, Neb., she married Cecil C. Snider. Four children were born to this marriage. Surviving are the four children, Clifford Snider of Queen City, Ivan Snider of North Platte, Neb., Ronald Snider of Queen City and Florence Guffey of Overland Park, Kan.; eight grandchildren; two great-grandchildren; one step-great grandchild and a sister, Mrs. Opal Ness of Denver, Colo. She was preceded in death by four grandsons and a half-sister. Mrs. Snider spent her early years in Nebraska and graduated from the high school at Palisades with the class of 1925. She worked in restaurants and did housework for a number of years including 10 years when she resided in Kansas City. In 1944 she moved to Queen City. She was a member of the Queen City Christian Church. Funeral services for Mrs. Snider were held at 2:00 p.m. Saturday, February 16, 1985 at the Dooley Funeral Chapel in Queen City with the Rev. Floyd Saxton officiating. Music was provided by Pauline Whitlow who sang "Take My Hand Precious Lord," accompanied by Julia Mollick. Burial was in the Queen City Cemetery. Bears were Curtis Snider, David Snider, Clayton Snider, Mike Snider, Carl Snider, Dayna Guffey, Kevin Skaggs, Tyson Petree and Kelly Snider. |
