David Elroy Shemwell September 6, 1930 - September 10, 2012 Obituary David E Shemwell, 82 of Clearlake Oaks, passed away in his home on September 10, 2012 due to failing health. He was a member of this community for 33 years. Dave was born in Venice, Ca. on September 6, 1930. He graduated from Venice High School and enlisted in the Army for a 4 year term where he served as MP. He was given "Honorable Discharge" in 1953. Dave was married to Judith Van Lent on May 8, 1957 they were married 42 years when he lost his love to cancer in June of 1999. Dave worked as a Cabinet maker and designer for his own company, "Cabinet Craft" in Clearlake Oaks and retired in 2009. He was an active member of the Royal order of the Moose, Lodge #2284 and served as president for a number of terms. Dave is survived by his loving children: Laura Larson of Wichita Falls, Texas, United States Brenda Young of Kelseyville, and David Shemwell of Clearlake Oaks; grandchildren Robert, Renee, Kimberly, Tanner, Katlynn, Marcus, and great-grandchildren; Lucas and Chase. Dave is preceded in death by his loving wife Judy. The family will have a private memorial service. In lieu of flowers, memorial donations may be sent to Clearlake Oaks Moose Lodge for the children of Mooseheart. The family wishes to thank everyone that positively impacted Dave's life.
