The Texas Revolution erupted in 1836, after Texas declared its independence from Mexico. Mexico responded by invading Texas, where General Santa Anna won decisive victories in the battles of the Alamo and Goliad. The war ended at the Battle of San Jacinto (about 20 miles) east of modern day downtown Houston) where General Sam Houston led the Texas Army to victory in 18 minutes over a portion of the Mexican Army under Santa Anna, who was captured shortly after the battle. The conclusion of the war resulted in the creation of the Republic of Texas - http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Texas_Revolution

Census
Work in Progress... Based on the records we have, we know that a Benjamin McGehee (1725-1816) married a Lucy in Virginia in 1745. She is mentioned in his 1808 Will. Their youngest daughter, Penelope (1750-1820), is consistent with the 1745 marriage date. The current birth year (not substantiated) for Lucy is ~1730 which is consistent with the 1745 marriage date as she would have been 15 yrs old. Benjamin/Lucy also had a son named Banks Sr (1781-1865) who had a son named Banks Jr (1810-??). Banks Jr married an Elizabeth Fuller in 1832 and they both show up correctly in the 1850 Census from North Carolina. The family listing shows their children along with a "Lucy McGehee" who has an estimated age of 100 yrs. Now, Lucy would be Banks Jr grandmother; so it is conceivable that she could be living with him in her old age since Benjamin passed away in 1816. The issue is her age. The Census reports it as "100"; yet, it she was born in ~1730, then should would really be ~120 yrs old. The estimated birth dates are not right. I think it is the same Lucy that was born ~1730 currently shown in the tree; although, I still need to look for some more facts to resolve the discrepancies. It is possible that some "rounding" in the marriage date and census age could help resolve this.
