Samuel L Troutman Obituary and Family Listing Samuel was born the son of Peter and Mary Polly (Bruce) Troutman, in Fulton Couty, IN. At the age of nineteen, Samuel enlisted into the Civil War. Enlisted as a Private on 9 August 1862. Enlisted in Company B, 116th Infantry Regiment Illinois on 6 Sep 1862. Mustered Out Company B, 116th Infantry Regiment Illinois on 31 May 1865. After the war, Samuel joined his parents in Decatur, IL, to which city the had relocated themselves. He married Elizabeth A Bear on January 10, 1868, in Macon County, IL. Following their marriage, the young couple took up residence on a farm near Bearsdale, having purchased a tract of 160 acres. For 45 years, Samuel would actively engage in the improvement and development of his farm. About 1890, Samuel erected a grain elevator in Bearsdale, for buying and selling grain from the local farmers. He then retired to a home in Decatur, IL. He continued to own the farm ground that he originally bought and received a good annual income from it. He was survived by his wife, his son, Frank S Troutman, who resides on the family farm and his daughter, Mary Etta, the wife of A.J. Phebe Troutman Obituary and Family Listing Daughter of Peter and Mary Troutman. Phoebe married Ephraim Widick on March 3, 1864 in Macon County, Illinois. They had 1 child, Vilette M. Widick. They divorced in December 1882. He died in 1887. Phoebe married Jeremiah Miller on March 1, 1888 in Decatur, Macon County, Illinois. AGED RESIDENT OF COUNTY DIED Mrs. Phoebe L. Miller, 84, wife of Jeremiah Miller, died at 8:45 p.m. Sunday at the family home on route 2 west of Decatur. She had been in failing health for several years, suffering from the infirmities of age. Mrs. Miller's maiden name was Phoebe L. Troutman, she was a daughter of Peter and Mary Troutman and was born in Fulton county, Ind., May 23, 1947. The family moved to Macon county when she was a little girl and for over seventy-five years she had resided a few miles west of Decatur. She was one of a family of eight children, all but two of whom have passed away. A brother, Jacob Troutman of Atlanta, Kan. and a sister, Mrs. Julia Gulick, Decatur, are all that remain of her father's family. She was twice married, her first husband being Ephraim Widick. He died many years ago. She and Jeremiah Miller were married in 1886. She had one daughter by her first husband, Violet Widick, who died in infancy. There is one step-son, William Miller. She was a charter member of Sharon Methodist and was known to most of the old residents of the county. The body was taken to the Moran & Sons funeral home. The funeral will be held at 2:30 o'clock Tuesday afternoon at the Moran & Sons chapel. The burial will be held in the Wyckles cemetery. Miller, 84, resident of Macon county for 75 years, died at 8:45 p.m. Sunday in her home on rule route 3 in Decatur township just west of the city. She had been in failing health for several years. Phoebe Troutman was the daughter of Peter and Mary Troutman, Macon county pioneers. She was born in Fulton county, Ind. April 23, 1847, and came to Decatur with her parents when she was nine years old. She was married to Ephriam Widick. A daughter, Violet Widick, died in infancy. After Mr. Widick's death she was married to Jeremiah Miller. Surviving beside the husband are a stepson, William Miller; a brother, Jacob Troutman, Atlanta, Kas, and a sister, Mrs. Julia Gulick, Decatur. Funeral services will be at 2:30 p.m. Tuesday in Moran & Sons chapel. Burial will be in the Wyckles cemetery. The body is in the Moran funeral home. Julia Gulick (nee Troutman) Obituary and Family Listing Decatur Herald 7/10/1933 Mrs.Julia Gulick,81,widow of Asa Gulick and early resident of Harristown township, died at 6:30 Sunday in the home of her son,Oran Gulickn near Sharon Methodist church. For 15 years since the death of her husband in 1918,Mrs. Gulick had maintained her residence in 1140 N. Monroe street,but made frequent visits to the home of her son and it was on one of these visits that her last illness occurred. Mrs. Gulick was born in Indiana, March 26, 1852 and came to Macon county in a covered wagon with her parents when a child of four.The family settled on the farm where her death occurred. When she was 15 her father erected a new house on the farm. She was married in this house in October 1873, the house continued to be her home until here husbands death. She was a member of Sharon Methodist church. Mrs.Gulick was the last of a family of five boys and three girls. One of her sons, John died in 1928. She leaves beside her other son,Oran, eight grandchilden and two great grandchildren. The body was taken to the Dawson & Wikoff funeral home where funeral services will be conducted at 2:30 pm Tuesday by Rev.C.
