Biography: "Edgar Woods book excerpt: Albemarle County in Virginia A VIRGINIA FAMILY OF WHITE. In 1779 DANIEL WHITE bought from William Wood a plantation near Batesville, Virginia, which he sold to Benjamin Ficklin. In Virginia,1812 he purchased a farm of Menan Mills, at the bend of Meechum's River on Broadaxe, which has been in the possession of the family ever since. He died in 1818. His wife was Elizabeth. He was appointed Magistrate in 1830; d.1850; Henry m.Elizabeth Garland, daughter of Rice and Elizabeth (Hamner) Garland. i. Samuel G. White, who m. Sarah White, dau. of John and Caroline (Moore) White, dau. of Stephen Moore. Daniel White was raised in Louisa County,VA. and Caroline County,VA. before moving to Albemarle Va. raising his family at Malvern/Oakland in Ivy, Albemarle County Virginia.(Malvern Home land and estate is listed as a National Historical site.) Captain Daniel White married Elizabeth McGehee in Louisa County, Virginia on Jan 12 1775. Daniel White was a Captain in the Rev. War serving under Col. Rueben Lindsey."
