"Revolutionary War Soldier, Source: D.A.R. Patriot Index part 2-Lyon: Lyons. Benjamin Lyon was a house builder and lived on Stoney Hill. He was a member of Captain Marsh's Light Horse Troop, Essex County, New Jersey Militia during the Revolutionary war. He was married before the war was over. After the war, he sold his farm in New Jersey and moved to the head of the Mingo Creek in Washington County, Pennsylvania-about a helf mile north of the village of Doningville. The farm had been owned by the Andy Crouch family for many years and was later owned by John Crouch. William Lyon wrote: the old original house and home of Benjamin is still standing. It was built by his own hands as he was a master mechanic in his day. While his family was cultivating the farm, he was engaged in building many of the residences, mills and factories of those days. He lived on his farm until the death of his first wife which occurred in 1801. Benjamin sold the farm and moved to Smith Creek in Greene County, Pennsylvania where he again bought a farm and married a second wife whose maiden name was Muncy. (Gertrude). Benjamin Lyon died at the good old age of 84 years in the year 1836 and was buried on the old Tom Smith farm on Smith Creek, two miles from Waynesburg. (from Pamela Villafuerte)."
