Today's News-Herald, Lake Havasu City, AZ - Published Wednesday, June 15, 2011 - John H. Myers of Lake Havasu City passed away suddenly in Lake Havasu City last Friday, June 10, 2011. He was born Aug. 28, 1930, in Mt. Carmel, Pa., to Margaret Foster and Donald C. Myers. John was a devoted and loving husband, father, grandfather, great-grandfather and brother. He attended high school in Alamogordo, N.M., Heidelburg, Germany, and graduated in 1948 from Long Branch High School in New Jersey. John considered himself an Army brat. He enlisted in the Army in 1948 and was recruited by the Central Intelligence Agency while in basic training. He served seven years in the military, working for the C.I.A., then converted to civilian status with the agency, specializing in communications. John met and married Charlotte Hofe in Washington D.C. in 1949. They had four children. During his 27 years of duty, he was stationed in Europe, Africa, Asia and the Middle East. John retired in 1975 and started his second career in real estate in Virginia. He retired to Lake Havasu City in 1978 and joined Era-American Real Estate serving as its manager. Charlotte passed away in March 1987 in Lake Havasu City. On Sept. 9, 1989, John married longtime friend Paula Johnson, becoming true soul mates and best buddies. John loved his God and his country. He also enjoyed all sports, played golf, walked 5 miles five times a week, loved traveling on road trips and loved the Diamondbacks. John was a past officer of BPOE Elks 2399, former Chamber of Commerce Director and past president of Lake Havasu City Board of Realtors. John was preceded in death by his parents, Margaret and Donald Myers. He is survived by his loving wife Paula; daughter Judy (Will) Harvey of Lake Havasu City; sons, John M. (Connie) Myers of Round Hill, Va., David (Joy) Myers of Las Cruces, N.M., and Steven (Isabel) Myers of Lake Havasu City; brother Don (Patti) Myers; two stepchildren, Sandy Johnson of Peoria, Ariz. and Ron (Theresa) Johnson of Annapolis, Md.; grandchildren, James and Katie Myers of Round Hill, Va., Charlie and David Myers of Las Cruces, N.M., Ed and Caroline Myers of Lake Havasu City; stepgrandson R.J. Johnson Jr. of Annapolis and five great-grandchildren. Funeral services will be held 2:30 p.m. Saturday at Lietz-Fraze Chapel. Pastor David Bybee will offer words of comfort and inspiration. B.P.O.E. Lodge 2399 will hold the Lodge of Sorrows, and VFW Post 9401 and American Legion Post 81 will present full military honors. In lieu of flowers, the family has requested that donations in John's memory go to the Cancer Society or Heart Association of Lake Havasu, PO Box 1410, Lake Havasu City, AZ 86405.
