| Obituary | William H. Troutman died yesterday hat his home in North Topeka, Kansas of heart failure, at the age of 86.
He was born in Indiana, September 25, 1832, He was involved in the presidential campaign of 1844, and passed the first vote for William Henry Harrison, and has voted for every presidential candidate fore the Republican party ever since.
He came to Kansas just before the close of the Civil war, and settled on a farm in Tecumseh township, just east of the present city of Oakland. About twenty years ago he moved to North Topeka, where his wife died in 1891. Since his wife died he has lived with his daughter Miss Viola Troutman, who is one of the high school teachers.
He leaves one sister Mrs. Susan Pugh, of Topeka, whom he came to Kansa with in 1865, and a brother, Joseph M. Troutman, of Logansport, Indiana. Also, children, John L. Troutman, near Berryton, Kansas, and James A. Troutman, lawyer, and former Lieutenant Governor of Kansas, and two daughters, Mrs. H. L. Resing, of Wichita, Kansas, and Miss Viola Troutman of Topeka, Kansas. |
