My husband Jerry started doing Auto Body Repair when he was about 15 and continued throughout his life. He ran his own shops along the way and in later years worked from home up to two weeks before his death. He was the best in his field. Jerry was a wonderful caring husband for more than 40 years and the best father our children could have had. He always put family before himself. He was taking care of me as well as trying to make a living while he was battling his own serious illness that finally hit him and surgery could not save him due to massive GI bleeding. Blood veins in his esophagus ruptured due to pressure buildup from a clot that could not be removed.. What took him away from me is said to be very rare. The veins that were blocked tried to re-route causing so much back pressure that the veins in his esophagus would burst and the last time it happened doctors tried to stop the bleeding but the rip was so bad it couldn't be done. He actually bleed to death. They gave him more units of blood trying to save him than they had ever given anyone and he lost it faster than it could be given.
