John Theobald was born in Prussia & immigrated to the US at New Orleans in the late 1840's. He moved his family to Trigg Co. KY by the mid-1850's and set up business as a boot & shoemaker. Some years later he moved again to Mayfield and ran the same business with his son Henry on the courthouse square in Mayfield. He was living on Water St. in Mayfield at the time of his death.
