Arthur W. Johnson Sr. Sept. 15, 1906-Dec. 19, 1990 EDWARDSBURG Services for Arthur William Johnson Sr., 84, of 68523 Eagle Lake Road, who died early Wednesday morning in St. Joseph's Medical Center, South Bend, after an illness, will be at 11 am, Saturday at Paul E. Mayhew Funeral Home. Burial will be in Adamsville Cemetery. Friends may call from 2 to 9 p.m. Fri-day at the funeral home. Mr. Johnson retired after 30 years as a pattern marker for Clark Metal Last Co. Inc. of Mishawaka. While there, he designed the pattern for the boots for the first moonwalk by the astronauts and received a personal letter from President John F. Kennedy praising him for the design. He was born Sept. 15, 1906, in Momence, M, and moved to Edwardsburg in 1965 from Mishawaka. On April 27, 1927, in South Bend, he married Georgia B. Zellers. She died March 31, 1972. Surviving are two daughters, Patricia J. Borsodi of South Bend and Judith A. Rhodes of Mishawaka; three sons, James A, Jack L. and Arthur W. Jr., all of Edwardsburg; 15 grandchildren; 24 great-grandchildren; and three sisters, Dorothy Weaver of Mishawaka, Evelyn Helmuth of South Bend and Marie Prairie of St. Ann, M. A daughter, Margaret Rose Johnson, died July 7, 1976. During the Depression, Mr. Johnson was a first lieutenant with Civilian Conservation Corps, the forerunner of the Indiana National Guard. Dur-ing the early 193011 and '40s, he man-aged the Waco Beach Pavilion on Lake Wawasee in Syracuse, and did the same at Palais Royale of South Bend during the dance band era.
