Carl J Troutman Obituary and Family Listing CARL TROUTMAN DIES OF INJURY - Medical Science Unable to Overcome Complication After Auto Accident Carl J. Troutman, 13-year old son of Charles S. Troutman, died in the Decatur and Macon county hospital at 1:45 o'clock Tuesday afternoon, death being caused by the effects of injuries which he had sustained about four weeks ago, when the car in which he was driving, overturned at the foot of Sheron church hill, near the Sawyer bridge, northwest of the city. The body was removed to the Dawson Undertaking parlors, where it will remain until 2 o'clock this afternoon, and his Decatur friends are invited to view the body until that hour. Brother on the Seas. Carl Troutman was born April 16, 1905, and leaves his father, one sister, Mary, a brother, Howard, both of whom are at home, besides another brother, Earl, who has been at Camp Merritt, N. J., in the Hospital corps, but who is now on his way overseas. His mother preceded him in death eleven years. Carl Troutman was a favorite with his family and his associates. His greatest "pal" was his father, who is deeply grieved at his death, and who tried in every way known to medical science to save the boy's life. The boy's every wish was granted, and the number of his friends may be ascertained from the fact that the nurses in the hospital were kept busy at all times answering the telephone for parties who wished to know the boy's condition. Always Courteous. He was a man's boy. Far above the average boy of his years, he was always mannerly and in every way courteous, addressing every man of his acquaintance in a courteous way, and not using familiar nicknames. Questions which the ordinary boy of his age would never think of asking were eagerly raised by him and his business ability was good. He was a subscriber to the Third Liberty Loan, paying for the bond with money which he had made from his different small industries around home. He was also a member of Troop Six, of the Decatur Boy Scouts. Young Troutman attended the Maple Grove school and was planning to start in the Decatur schools this fall. Funeral services will be held in the Harristown Methodist church Thursday afternoon at 3 o'clock.
